Banaras Ki Baatein - The Beginning
(A thing called art is immersed so deep in this lovely land that there are three equally perfect titles embarked to this writing namely, Banaras Ki Baatein viz. Voices Of Varanasi viz. Views On Varanasi viz. Kashi Ke Kisse!)
The stories of Banaras are not mere stories; they are a treasure so profound that uncovering some jewels and leaving behind certain diamonds almost seems impossible. Nonetheless, today, I officially embark on this journey with trembling and eager fingers to let one know and show Banaras, that is, wrapped beneath multiple layers by unfolding and spreading its essence progressively.
I was born and brought up in Banaras but even then, I have seen a glimpse of that Banaras up close, at least to some extent, which one might now only find in historical or literary works. The reason for this is not just the environment that we can attribute to development but the entire evolving circumstances.
